Author Guidelines

Wartazoa, Indonesian Bulletin of Animal and Veterinary Sciences contain: (i) the scientific manuscripts that have not been published previously in any scientific journal, and include a statement of originality by the author, (ii) the scientific review of the latest reviews/research results in the field of animal and veterinary sciences, and (iii). Analysis, assessment of policy and ideas related to veterinary and animal husbandry. This bulletin is published four (4) times a year in March, June, September and December.

The guidelines for the authors as follow:

  1. The manuscript is written in Indonesian or English, in Microsoft Word format, except for Graphs using Microsoft Excel program and Figures or image using JPEG or TIFF format, accompanied by an abstract in English and Indonesian (for Indonesian Author). The Manuscripts should be typed using Times New Roman fonts at 12 points on paper size A4 with a distance of 2 spaces.
  2. If the manuscript is written by more than one authors, it needs agreement from other authors by approval signature from each author.
  3. The manuscript are sent to the Editorial Board through online journal at http://medpub.litbang.pertanian.go.id/index.php/wartazoa
  4. The manuscript is arranged as follows:
  • Title, should be comprehensive, not more than 15 words. The name and address of the author: The author’s name, written in full (without title). If the author (s) has more than one address, then behind each name should be given superscripts in Arabic number. Author's address, the name and full address of the Institution are written below the author’s name, with the number of indexes on the author's name and typed in italics. Email addres of corresponding author is written under the author’s address.
  • Abstract, consists of no more than 250 words in a single paragraph, and is written in English. For Indonesian author, abstract is written in Indonesian and English. Beginning with objectives, summarize the main points and ending with conclusion, Key words, maximum of 5 words or phrases is written under abstract.
  • Introduction, contains background, scope of the idea and objective of the article.
  • Main topic consists of extensive discussion of relevant literatures. It can be written in sub-headings. Pictures, tables, graphs etc can be included.
  • Conclusions, summarize the manuscript and recommendation (if available)
  • Acknowledgement can be written if necessary.
  • References, literature cited is listed in the reference section, which covered at least 25 references and consist of 80% of recent referee journals. The cited literature cannot be derived from unpublished manuscripts such as the practical instruction, teaching material.
5. Table:
  • Table should be prepared single spaced in Ms.Word using Time New Roman font at 11 points.
  • The title written as short sentence and understandable.
  • Each column of the table should have a heading. The unit must be separated from the title by a comma in parentheses or below.
  • Table caption written below the table with a distance of single space and font 11. Source of data written under the table.
6. Images and graphics:
  • Images and graphics should be prepared single spaced in Ms.Word using Time New Roman font at 11 points put under pictures and graphics.
  • Each line on the graph should be clearly seen from one another when there are more than one curve.
  • Images are provided with a clear contrast, proportional size and high resolution.
  • The source of the image/graph is written below the title.

8. The decimal, is separated by a comma (,) for Indonesian language and a dot (.) for the english language

9. Literature cited in the text:

  • Literature cited should follow the Council of Science Editors (CSE) 7th edition in 2006.
  • Citation in the text should be written as: the author’s last name followed by the year, eg Diwyanto (2007) or (Diwyanto 2007).
  • When there are two authors names in the cited literature, the author's last name should be written all, example: (Albenzio & Santilo 2011) or Albenzio & Santilo (2011).
  • If there are more than two authors names in the cited literature, the first author’s last name is followed by “et al.”, eg. Jayanegara et al. (2012) or (Jayanegara et al. 2012).
  • If there are more than one cited literatures to support the statement, they must be written in the chronological order first and alphabetical order for two publications in the same year, for example: (Diwyanto et al. 2007; Jayanegara et al. 2012; Wina 2012).
  • References in cited literatures as an example: Teleni in Widiawati (2012) should not be allowed.
  • If a statement is obtained from a personal communication, it is written as: "the last name of contact person" followed by “personal communication” eg.: Jayanegara (personal comunication) or (Jayanegara, personal comunication).
  • If the same author wrote more than one articles in the same year, it can be written as: the author’s last name followed by small letters ( a, b or c ). Eg.: Widyanto (2010a; b; c).
10. How to write references list:
  • Organized in alphabetical order by the author’s name and year of publication.
  • Any references cited in manuscript must be written in the references list at the end of the manuscript.
  • Citeded literature must be published within the last 10 years with a minimum proportion of 80% of the referee journal.
  • Citeded literature from the Internet is permitted from sources as journals, government agencies or private companies. Wikipedia can not be used as a source of literature.
  • "Anonymous" reference is not allowed.
  • If the author's name is not mentioned, it is stated as the name of the institution or publisher.
  • Manuscript that have been accepted but is still in the process of publication should be written as “in press” after at the end of the reference.

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or WordPerfect document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  5. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
  6. If submitting to a peer-reviewed section of the journal, the instructions in Ensuring a Blind Review have been followed.
